TaigaGeography & Climate • Location: North U.S. & North Asia. • Description: Carnivorous forest, very few animal species, & cold. • Soil Type: Spodosol not very fertile. • Precipitation: 12-13 inches of rain per year. • Temperature: Winters are -65ºF to 30ºF. Summers range from 30ºF to 70ºF. • Climate: Winters are dark, cold with lots of snow, summers are warm & short days.

  4. taiga Adaptations Needed for Survival • Animals most grow long coats for harsh winters. • Plants must grow spikes to protect water they need for long winters.

  5. Taiga Interactions of Biotic and Abiotic Almost all my animals either burrow or live in hollowed out trees. My animals also breath the oxygen that the trees create. Trees use the carbon dioxide that my animals use to generate photosynthesis.
