Graduation RequirementsClass of 2015 English 40 units Social Science 30 units Mathematics 30 units Science 20 units Foreign Lang./Vis. or Perf. Arts 10 units Health 2.5 units PE 20 units Elective Courses 65 units Total Units Required: 217.5 Units ** Must pass California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) ** Must pass Algebra One ** Must pass Computer Competency Test/Computer Class Home of the Highlanders!
UC & CSU Admission Requirements “a-g” minimum course requirements with grade of “C” or better a. History/Social Science 2 years World History, Cultures & Geography, U.S. History, & Am. Govt. b. English 4 years c. Mathematics 3 years Alg 1, Geometry & Alg 2 or higher d. Laboratory Science 2 years Biology, Chemistry, & Physics e. World Language 2 years Same Language f. Visual/Performing Art 1 year g. College Preparatory Electives 1 year College Entrance Exams Most colleges require : SAT Reasoning or ACT (with writing for UC) Recommendation: Take SAT or ACT in the Spring of your Junior Year. CSU and UC’s require SAT Reasoning, or ACT exams to be completed by December of senior year. CSU Placement Exams for English &/or Math (if SAT or ACT do not meet minimum CSU requirement, student will be advised) Students bound for UC must have successfully completed 11 of the A-G courses by the end of their junior year. NCAA Eligibility • NCAA Division I requires 16 core courses as of August 1, 2008. This rule applies to any student first entering any Division I college or university on or after August 1, 2008. See the chart below for the breakdown of this 16 core-course requirement. • NCAA Division II requires 14 core courses. See the breakdown of core-course requirements below. Please note, Division II will require 16 core courses beginning August 1, 2013. • Only core courses are used in the calculation of the grade-point average. • Be sure to look at your high school’s list of NCAA-approved core courses on the Eligibility Center's Web site to make certain that courses being taken have been approved as core courses. NCAA Eligibility PLEASE NOTE: Beginning August 1, 2013, students planning to attend an NCAA Division II institution will be required to complete 16 core courses. Home of the Highlanders!

Grade Level Classification:Academic Grade vs. Social Grade The academic grade classification of a student indicates the student’s progress toward meeting unit requirements for graduation. • Each student’s academic grade classification for the next school year shall be determined by the number of units accomplished as follows: 9th – 0 - 54 units 10th – 55 - 109 units Students must be an academic 10th grader to take the California High School Exit Exam 2. Attendance • EXTREMELY IMPORTANT IN HIGH SCHOOL! • Excused Absences Illness, Doctor visits, Funeral, Court Appearance, Religious Holidays Vacation is NOT an excused absence! • Unexcused Absences Result In Unit Loss 3 unexcused = 1 unit lost 6 unexcused = 2 units lost 9 unexcused = 3 units lost (Must Repeat Course at this point) 12 unexcused = 4 units lost 15 unexcused = defaults to an “F” in class • 3-day Notification: Parent/guardian must call or send a note to the Attendance Office within three days of absence. • Numbers: (562) 266-5012 or 266-5013 • Unit make up can begin in summer school or during 11th grade year. After school tutoring Monday – Thursday in room 84 2:45 pm to 3:45 pm Calculus Club Math Tutoring – Library at Lunch Monday through Thursday Library open during lunch and after school for student access, computer use and studying.
