  1. 2014-2015 Preliminary Budget Reductions All of the information in this Power Point is based on where we stand as of February 11th. The information is subject to change based on several financial factors that we do not have as of February 11th. An example would be that we have not received our state aid figures; therefore, the presentation is based on the assumption that the district will receive flat funding.   3. The following slides contain information regarding the proposed budget reductions due to the $868,745 deficit.

  4. Administrative Position • Director of Building and Grounds -Retirement; not replacing the position $121,038.18 *The amount listed for each position includes the salary and benefits combined.

  5. Support Staff Positions • Maintenance Employee - Position currently vacant and not being replaced $71,005.89 • Full-Time Night Custodian - Position currently vacant and not being replaced $67,105.89 *The amount listed for each position includes the salary and benefits combined.

  6. Teacher Retirement • One Teacher Retirement -The full-time teaching position will not be replaced$108,664.87 *The amount listed for each position includes the salary and benefits combined.

  7. Staff Reductions • Jr./Sr. High School Art Teacher $76,200.00 • Elementary Math Specialist $76,882.35 • Jr./Sr. High School History Teacher $61,277.19 • Jr./Sr. High School Spanish Teacher $63,802.69 *The amount listed for each position includes the salary and benefits combined.

  8. Staff Reductions • Elementary Art Teacher $70,144.94 • District Media Specialist -Reduced from full-time to part-time $25,188.00 • Jr./Sr. High School Part-Time Business Teacher $27,435.00 *The amount listed for each position includes the salary and benefits combined.

  9. Junior High School • The Junior High School (7th and 8th grades) will be going on the same time/class schedule as the Senior High School $100,000

Sports and Clubs • Varsity Club $1,820 • Art Club 910 • Multi-Cultural Student Union 2,000 • Scribe Newspaper 2,785 • Knowledge Bowl Club 2,430 • Indoor Band Stipend 1,930 • Jr./Sr. High School Band Stipend 2,850 • Musical Supplies 1,600 • Freshman Football 3,825 • Freshman Field Hockey 4,055 • Winter Cheerleading 2,870 • Junior High School Co-ed Track 10,210 • Swimming Transportation 5,000 • Jr./Sr. High School Marching Band Instruments 4,400 • Assistant Girls’ Tennis Coach 3,190 • Jr./Sr. High School Choir Stipend 3,620 Total = $53,495

The items that are put on a Second Question ballot cannot be a part of the Common Core State Standards in any way. Therefore, positions such as: a Math teacher, English teacher, Science teacher, Social Studies teacher, or an Elementary Core Content teacher cannot be placed on a Second Question ballot. There are very strict guidelines as to what can go on a Second Question ballot.

November - Second Question Continued • Swimming Transportation 5,000 • Jr./Sr. High School Marching Band Instruments 4,400 • Jr./Sr. High School Choir Stipend 3,620 Total = $42,425 Technology • Elementary Schools-4 sets of 25 Chromebooks combined $40,000 • Jr./Sr. High School-technology infrastructure expansion 15,000 • Jr./Sr. High School-replacement of computers in one computer lab 21,000 • Jr./Sr. High School-replacement of 30 laptops and one laptop cart 17,500 Sub-Total = $93,500 Total = $183,557 *Please note all Second Question items must be approved by the County Office prior to the election. The items that are put on a Second Question ballot cannot be a part of the Common Core State Standards in any way.   13. At district cap for a house assessed at $284,943, the tax increase for the homeowner is approximately $75.97.

  14. Second Question Information • For a house assessed at $284,943, the approximate tax increase for the Second Question is $63.85.
