Practice Schedule 7th Grade – Be on the court & ready no later than 6:55 A.M. for morning practices. (Monday – Thursday) 8th Grade – During 8th period to 5:20 (Monday –Wednesday) Pick up and drop off at the back of the school – the teacher’s parking lot
EQUIPMENT INFORMATION • YOUR SON WILL BE PROVIDED WITH THE FOLLOWING: • A basketball reversible (practice shorts will not be provided – shorts should be blue, red, or grey) • A basketball uniform – All uniforms will be turned in after games to be washed within the schools facilities. • This equipment is property of MISD and must be returned. Your son will be required to replace any lost or damaged equipment per MISD policy
EXPECTATIONS OF PLAYERS • Pass all classes every six weeks • Be on time with all equipment • Be respectful to coaches, administrators, and teachers • Be a good teammate • Focus and Hustle • Be coach-able • Follow all MISD policies • Contact us when they will not be here (Their teams coach)
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM THE COACHES • To make decisions that are best for the team/program • To be honest with you and your son • To discipline your son and hold him to a very high standard • To help develop your son physically, mentally, and emotionally • To teach your son life lessons through athletics
PARENT/COACH RELATIONSHIPS AT MIDWAY Understanding and respecting the position of both parents and coaches will help enhance the athletic experience for our athletes.
Appropriate Concerns to Discuss with the Coach • The coach’s interaction with your son • How the coach can help your son become a better athlete and student • Concerns about your sons interactions with others • Health concerns or conditions
AREAS LEFT TO THE DISCRETION OF THE COACH • TEAM STRATEGY • OTHER ATHLETES OR OTHER SITUATIONS NOT INVOLVING YOUR SON • PLAY CALLING • PLAYING TIME
For a Conference Call or Email Coach Holder to set up an appointment Conferences may include other coaches or administrators Please do not attempt to confront a coach after a game or practice. Emotions are running too high and will not result in a positive resolution
Parent Code of Conduct • Love and support your child and the team, win or lose • Be realistic about your child’s abilities • Be positive and encouraging at all times • Do not come to the court during a game to talk to your son • Respect the coach’s decisions and encourage others to do the same • Realize that we are in this together!
Sport Specific Policies/Procedures Include: Food Drop Off procedure, remember no food is to be dropped off at the front office Parents taking athletes home from away contests – sign out sheet procedure Random Drug Testing
