  2. In our literacy lessons we have to become gooddetectives... We need to be able to use clues to help us identify text types.. We need to be able to work out hidden or obscure meanings.... We need to be able to identify, collect and investigate devices used ... Such as particular words and phrases... We need to be able to spot when and how a writer is trying to influence our way of thinking ..............

  3. When a writer is trying to influence our way of thinking opinion may often be disguised as fact so .. We need to ... ...know the difference between fact, fantasy and opinion

  4. You have ten minutes to discuss with your table partners and write.. A definition of a fact A definition of fantasy A definition of an opinion Assign the job of spokesperson At the end of ten minutes the spokesperson for each table will read out the definitions

  5. Now Look up the definitions in your dictionary You have 5 minutes to find the definitions and decide if your table definitions were Spot on Partially right Not even nearly...

  11. Work in pairs ... In your jotters Decide which of the following statements are Fact Fantasy Opinion You have got fifteen minutes... FINISHED ?? See if you can write an opinion of your own but make it sound like a fact...
