Join Class 1O with Mrs. O’Brien for a fun-filled term exploring the seaside through sensory stories, number activities, art, and more. Get ready to immerse in literacy, science, geography, and PE lessons combined with hands-on experiences.

Welcome back to school for the second half of the Summer term. We have a new teacher in 10 called Mrs O’Brien. This half term we be learing all about the seaside. We are all looking forward to working hard and having lots of fun!
Literacy Through our Literacy work we are going to be listening to sensory stories based on seaside fantasy worlds, we will be matching symbols and words from the story. We will be using our mark making skills and writing skills to create patterns and write letters in lots of sensory materials.
In our Maths learning, we will be all about our numbers and counting. We will be using our counting skills to count different objects which we find at the beach, and we will be learning how to match our numerals.
In our science work, we will be learning all about light and dark. We will exploring what happens when we shine light onto different materials and through different materials. We will also be exploring how we can make our classroom dark, and how we can make shadows.
Geography Through our geography work, we will be looking what it is like to visit the seaside, and we will be using all of our senses to explore the different things which we find at the seaside each week, and we also be exploring this through our immersive learning sessions.
Art We will also be using our work on the seaside as a basis for our art work using sand and water to create beautiful pictures. We will also be exploring how we can create collages using seaside materials.
RE In RE we will learning all about what we find in the church, exploring the artefacts which we would see in the church.
PE In our PE work, we are learning how we can follow instructions to climb, run and stop along our equipment.
Food Tech Through our food tech work, we will be using all of our senses to explore the ingredients for our cookery sessions and follow an adults’ lead to create delicious seaside foods.
Look at books together and ask questions about the pictures. Visit the Seaside Collect objects around the home and count them with your child
This term we will be taking part in horse riding and swimming sessions.
