Welcome & Introduction Nature of PNDS and content contribution development: • Fits into other programmes of activity inside and outside MLA • contributes to growing global information sharing infrastructures and services • is innovative project (first in-service type of its kind?) • rapid development project (brings time-pressures but will keep activities focused) • PNDS system developed by Sept 05 • Cultural content contributed from end of Jun 05 • Full PNS launched October 05
Welcome & Introduction Facilitators & roles in contributing cultural content to PNDS: • MLA • service commissioners on behalf of public libraries and the wider sector, (BLF funded) • KINT: • Primary software developers for PNDS system, responsible for practical integration of data from contributors • UKOLN: • Expert advisory body, supporting PNDS content contributors as per nof-digi programme and developing standards and guidance across CIE • CIE: • Stakeholder representing wider UK public sector bodies, including research into application of Creative Commons for CIE
