  1. Year 8 Term 2 Week 1 Homework D Complete the task but include an extra paragraph explaining what the pyjamas symbolise and what connotations they have. P Complete the gold task but include colour and be able to explain the effect this colour has on the reader. G Complete task but you must include three devices and explain the effect of these on the reader. S Complete the bronze task but you must include alliteration and an example of symbolism. B Design your own book cover for BISP. You must write two PEEL paragraphs explaining your choices and the effect on the reader.

  2. Year 8 Term 2 Week 2 Homework D Complete the task but imagine that you are a journalist who has found this diary entry 50 years on. Write a newspaper article based on this particular diary entry. P Complete the gold task and write about how you think another character in the novel might be feeling or describe what they are like. G Complete the silver task and also include a range of language devices to describe that particular day. S Complete the bronze task and write about something that happened that day. B Write a diary entry for Bruno or Gretel. Describe how you feel at this point in the novel and include the setting.

S Complete the bronze task, research the Holocaust and write a newspaper report where you report about a particular incident. B Understanding the historical context of the novel is the key to understanding the writer’s purpose in writing the novel and the novel’s message. Research the historical context of this novel and write a newspaper report on it.

Many say that without these planes, Britain and the Allied forces would have lost the war against Germany. Research these planes and write a letter persuading people to but a ‘spitfire’. Include 3-4 facts.
