  1. To insert your company logo on this slide • From the Insert Menu • Select “Picture” • Locate your logo file • Click OK • To resize the logo • Click anywhere inside the logo. The boxes that appear outside the logo are known as “resize handles.” • Use these to resize the object. • If you hold down the shift key before using the resize handles, you will maintain the proportions of the object you wish to resize.   2. 20 years – This is our 20th year teaching! 12 years – This is our 12th year teaching together as a job share TEAM. About Us • We both got our start in Tracy Unified School District. • Taught at Fredericksen and Nielsen School.

  4. Mission Statement We believe that every child can succeed. We have high expectations for academics, as well as behavior in our classroom. And…If kids believe in themselves, they will exceed our expectations.

Our Daily Schedule • The schedule is also on our website. • How will it work? • Reading and writing based on independent needs w/ grade level curriculum • Math will use grade level curriculum w/supplements • Science and Social Studies will involve grade level rotations as well as in class activities. • PE and Music will be done by grade level

We have 12 Fantastic 1st Graders and 12 Sensational 2nd Graders Student characteristics: Responsible Hard working Independent Cooperative We will INSTILL in our students, a positive self-concept, high self-esteem and good attitude towards school Older students benefit by accepting the responsibility of being leaders Younger students benefit by being stimulated intelectually by the older group Opportunities: lead follow collaborate make stable peer relationships Our Awesome B3 Classroom

Homework Bags Sent home on Fridays in their GREEN Communication folders Due the following Friday Monthly activity calendar Calendar changed monthly Worksheets changed weekly Reading Comprehension Sheet Math -1 page/side each night Reading (15-20 min.) Students should spend 15-20 minutes on activities and an additional 15-20 min. reading The process, is equally as important as the product It is the student’s responsibility to complete and turn his/her Homework Bag in each week Bags will go home on September 7th and due back on September 14th. Homework-1st Grade

Spelling/Word Sorts • In class (all students) – Spelling patterns are practiced with word sorts daily. • First Grade: Weekly Spelling Tests will begin in November • Second Grade: First Spelling Test will be on 9/14. Words are on website. • At-home spelling activities may not need paper • Uses multiple intelligences • Students may choose activity to help them study for the Spelling Test on Fridays.

  22. Field Trips • Volunteers • 5-6 needed per trip • Chaperones will rotate • Everyone will get an opportunity to chaperone if they wish • We will be choosing 4 class field trips this year. (2 first grade and 2 second grade field trips). • Tentative Locations: • Heather Farms (October)
