Attendance: Attendance is 10% of your final grade. Each unexcused absence is worth -2.5 points from your final grade. If you are more than 10 minuteslate, you will be absent. Four (4)unexcused absences will give you an ‘F’ grade for the semester. Excuse notes will be accepted for two weeks from the time of your absence.
Participation: Participation is worth 20% of your total grade. Bring your textbook, notebook, stationery and any handouts that were given to you. TURN OFF your cell phones. You will lose participation points for sending/receiving calls or text messages. Speak English. Do not copy from your partner.

Quizzes: Quizzes will be worth 15% of your final grade. There will be between 4-5 written quizzes throughout the semester. If you are absent without an excuse, you cannot take the quiz. If you miss the quiz because you were late, you cannot take the quiz. Quizzes are taken individually, do not work with your partner or as a group.
Homework: Homework will be worth 15% of your total grade. Homework must be submitted on or before the due date. Homework that is not submitted on or before the due date will not be accepted. Homework may be made up if you have an excused absence. If your absence is not excused, it will not be accepted.
Getting to Know Someone. Who is Tim Roberts?
Timothy Byrd Roberts was bornMay 30th, 1964 in Anchorage, Alaska.
He has 5 sisters. • Two of his sisters are older, and three are younger.
During high school, he joined the wrestling team in the winter, ... ...and he ran track in the spring
Afer graduation, he went to junior college in sunny Florida.
Next, he went back to Alaska to finish a bachelor's degree in English.
After university, Tim went to graduate school. He spent his summers working on an Anchorage golf course.
Before finishing his MA, Tim took two years off to teach in Niigata, Japan.
When he finally finished his master’s degree, Tim decided he was finished with studying FOREVER!
Tim also lived in San Bernardino, California for a year and a half (1.5). He taught freshman writing classes at a nearby community college.
After 3 years in Daegu, Tim went to Central and South America for 6 months. He studied some Spanish there.
The next year, he went to work at a university in Thailand. The pay was terrible...!
When he returned to Korea, Tim worked at universities in Daegu, Incheon, Gyeongsan, and Hayang.
He’s been very happy here for the last 2.5 years, enjoying the beautiful scenery and exploring Gyeongju.
