  3. Team Lead Assessment Using the focus area questions, rank your team’s progress from 1 to 10 (10 is high functioning)

  4. Chart Progress Step 1: Pick-up 11 sticky notes. Step 2: Write your team name at the top of each sticky note. Step 3: For each focus area, write a brief description under the team name. Then, rank the focus. Example: 10th English Norms 7 Step 4: Post it up!

  5. Team Lead Assessment Team norms are implemented. Team collaboration timeis spent "focusing on issues that impact student learning.” Team self-assesses using critical questions. All members contribute to and work toward achieving SMART Goals. Teams’ power standards are aligned with instructional topics, learning outcomes, and assessments. Teams’ common essential learning, pacing guides, and assessments are implemented. Teamhas developed in-class interventions that are in place to support low performing students. Team uses formative assessments to identify level of learning. Team discusses and uses critical reading strategies. Team develops "collaborative learning" lessons for students. Team members observe each other teaching.

Level 1 A Sequence for Designing Common Formative Assessments Level 2 How can we engage students in the formative assessments process? Let’s take a look.

  8. An ECV Example of The Formative Assessment Process • The ELD PLC read Marzano’s explanation of the formative assessment process • Decided to try this and involve the students by charting their own progress • Focused on the ELA standards for narrative and expository writing

  9. The Weekly Process • Teachers and Students established learning outcomes and a goal • 1. Provided direct instruction: expository content, organization and focus, grammar and mechanics. Provided students with rubric information. • 2. Guided Practice, independent practice with feedback • 3. Provided models • 4. Weekly formative assessments:Students responded to the writing prompt in ELD on Thursdays and Marked the text in Reading or CAHSEE Prep on Fridays. • 5. Teachers graded formative assessments before the next Monday. Decided what areas needed more instruction/practice • 6. Students charted their progress and reflected on their goal every Monday.
