Education District Update • Charlotta Johnsson • Educational Chair of ISA District 12 since February 2004 • I am working with all the Educational Chairs of the different sections within D12. • There are many activities that we can coordinate and initiate.
Education District Update • This presentation will contain a short update regarding the educational activities within the sections of ISA D12. • District 12 = Europe/Asia/Africa/Middle East 13 active sections 7 inactive or formative sections
Inactive (I) and Formative (F) sections Inactive section: section with no activity Formative section: an identified section to be or under start-up
Education District Update - Activities during 2003 • Many sections had educational seminars in conjunction with other shows (England, Italy) • Italy organized conferences • “PED: impact of instrumentation and control” • “ATEX: impact on the End Users and how to get authorizations by Local Authorities”
Education District Update - Activities during 2003 • ISA Training Courses • France has a training centre “Psynapses” that takes care about ISA courses within France. • Approximately 10 courses per year, with an approx. 5-12 participants. • Occasionally tutorial are given at conferences. • The Netherlands has a training centre “TWP” that takes care about ISA courses within the Netherlands • Spain has experience of training courses and webinars through their Student sections.
Education District Update - Activities 2003 • Israel have been active giving lectures • 30 April 2003 - “Basics of Flow Measurements”. 98 participants • 2 September 2003 – “Advanced Flow Measurements”. 144 participants • 28 January 2004 – “Temperature Measurements”. 171 participants • 18 May 2004 – “Pressure Measurements”. 185 participants
Education District Update - Activities during 2003 • Many sections has student sections (2 new in Ireland, 2 in Spain) (discussed in an other presentation) • Technical talks have been organized for the students (Ireland, Spain) • Student invited, through ISA, to exhibitions (Ireland) • Three students were granted through ISA Spain to work for several months in automation companies (Spain).
Education District Update - Planned/Previewed Activites 2004 • The Saudi Arabian section plans to: • Hold tutorials at university campus • Provide training courses (on-line and/or instruction led). • Abu Dhabi Section (United Arab Emirates) will investigate the possibility starting CCST examination centres.
Education District Update - Planned/Previewed Activites 2004 • Spain has one potential new Student section. • Technical talks are planed for the Irish student sections. • France (Psynapses) will investigate on giving webinars in France. • France (Psynapses) plans to develop additional new courses. • Italy would like to investigate the possibility of creating « training courses for instrumentation engineers ».
Education District Update - Planned/Previewed Activites 2004 • Italy will co-organize a conference (topic: IEC 61511) and workshops (2 already planned). • Many sections interested in the CCST certification program (Sweden, SuadiArabia, …)
Education District Update - summary • Many of the 20 sections has had educational activities during the past year. • There are more opportunities – more about this in separate presentation • Together we can make ISA a strong provider of educational services within the sections of District 12 !!
