Specialist Centres • Laparoscopic (Keyhole) Surgery – ICENI unit (today the unit carries out more advanced keyhole surgery than anywhere else in the UK) • Oncology (cancer) service - People from all over north and mid-Essex come to our Essex County Hospital cancer centre for our radiotherapy service, which had an exemplar cancer peer review in 2006. • Our stroke unit – according to the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement our stroke unit is in the top 10 performing units in the NHS.
