Introduction Wharton Operations
Explanation Wharton Operations • Why are we doing this project? • Continuation of the air handling equipment upgrade work within SHDH that has been completed over the last two summers. • Historically, SHDH has had multiple HVAC issues, a common theme is problems maintaining a comfortable temperature in the building. • This phase will complete the HVAC upgrade work for all SHDH; all systems will be more efficient and better serviceable with more accurate controls technology.
Scope of Project Wharton Operations
Project Scope Wharton Operations • Phase 3 (July 2015 – December 2015) • Work will be considered moderate in all spaces and will be more intensive in specific areas. • All work will occur in the evenings, Monday through Thursday from 9:00 pm to 7:00 am. • The project will need access to a majority of rooms on the perimeter of the building within the hammerhead suites.
New Thermostat Work • Scope: • Installation of a new digital thermostat directly next to or below existing thermostat. • Once new thermostat becomes operational, the old t-stat is to be removed and the applicable wall is to be patched and painted. • Prep work • None • Impact: • Minimal • Schedule: • August – December Wharton Operations
New Thermostat Functionality Moving slide lever to the right adds 2 degrees to the 72° F set point temp Moving slide lever to the left decreases the temp by 2 degrees from center set point of 72° F Wharton Operations
Above Ceiling Work • Scope: • Installation of new equipment, piping and associated duct work. • Preparation work: • Remove all personal and breakable items from your desktops, windowsills and shelving and store in a safe location. Computer components can remain on desk surfaces. • Remove all pictures from the walls. • Remove all items from floor, so workers can set up ladders. • Protection will be installed each night while project work is occurring. • Impact: • Occupants will have access to office each day, but at times there will be ceilings out of place or areas temporarily reconfigured. • There may be a short period of time where temperatures will fluctuate while work is being completed. • Schedule: • August – December • Contractor will need access for a max. 10 days depending on location.
Project Construction Plan Wharton Operations
Construction Work Plan Wharton Operations Site mobilization and construction sketching is planned to begin on Monday, July 27th at 9:00 pm. Access will need to be gained into all suites for the first four weeks; security will be present with all workers. Above Ceiling Work is planned to begin the week of August 17th. • Ground Floor: • Classrooms and lobby area of 350/351, Stair tower #3 lobby, 300 Suite, 400 Suite • First Floor: • 1300 Suite, 1400 Suite • Second Floor: • 2300 Suite, 2400 Suite, west side of the 2200 Suite, Rotunda area • Third Floor: • 3300 Suite, non-West Tower 3400 offices and 3411 conference room, west side of the 3200 Suite, Rotunda area
Construction Work Plan (cont.) Wharton Operations • When temporary temperature fluctuations occur where duct work is currently taking place, please plan to have additional clothing layers available in case it is needed. This was previously noted and it can be a three day process. • There will be a touch-up process for all areas when the project is completed. There will also be a building air and water system balancing effort performed when the project construction is completing; these steps are planned to happen early December.
