What the Judges Say:Comments from Previous Years • Make it sound like you’re carrying on a conversation rather than answering questions • Take your hands out of your pockets • Be more specific • Explain what you did • Don’t read the question • More organized • Speak louder • Introduce yourself at the beginning • Sound more enthusiastic about what you’ve done • Tell about the additional work you’re going to do • Really, really short • Know your information • Watch your language in your presentation – keep it professional, no profanity • Add pictures (or other visuals) in 2nd & final presentations • Be prepared; don’t read from paper
Speech • Be prepared • Write it • Practice it • Alone • In front of (a) group(s) • Your FORMAL PRACTICE PRESENTATION is DUE FRIDAY • Notes? • You may use index cards • Do not write out everything word-for-word • Use key ideas
Visuals • At least one visual aid must be digital (41) • Edit everything: • Power Point and Tri-Folds • Grammar, spelling, consistency • Video • Easy to load (pre-loaded?), music is school appropriate, writing is correct • Project • Clean and helps presentation • Demonstrations • Practiced multiple times, runs smoothly
Panel Members • Teacher • Students (a class) • Community Members • Some may have experience with your project. • Many will not. • Address your speech to the group somewhere in the middle
