Separating Mixtures • use of a magnet (if one part is magnetic and the other isn’t) • straining(colanders, sieves, strainers) to separate liquids from solids or to separate small and large particles. • density (if part floats and part sinks, put mix in water and strain off the floating parts) • decanting (pouring off a less dense liquid from a more dense one)
