  14. Health JIF • Now in its second year • The first quarter of the second year showed the following training was undertaken:

  15. Health JIF • Almost 1,000 starts in September so a lot of activity taking place despite Train to Gain funding position • National Apprenticeship Service has agreed to fund 600 Apprenticeships at NHS trusts across the region covering all age ranges

  16. The Justice Sector Compact • A 3 year agreement between Skills for Justice (SSC) & DIUS, signed July 2008, that allowed the following flexibilities to the standard TtG Offer: • Justice Public Sector access to TtG • Justice Sector additions to the Repeats Lists • Support from the Regional Skills Brokerage • A post to coordinate & manage the implementation of the Compact hosted by Skills for Justice • Joint Investment Framework (JIF) or letter of intent to be in place before TtG is accessed • JIF Agreement period: 1st January 2009 - 31st December 2011

What was agreed? • During the 3 year Compact Skills for Justice would support the Sector in England to secure TtG to achieve: • 500 employer engagements/skills broker referral within TtG • 11,290 learners Level 2 &16,483 learners at Level 3 • 70% first & 30% second qualification across levels 2 and 3 • 1000 Skills Pledge commitments • 216 management & leadership achievements • 670 apprenticeships starts in public services • 43,870 Skills for Life achievements • 1,038 level 4 qualifications • Total qualifications delivered over three years: 73,567

  18. What does this include? • Prisons • Police • Probation

  19. Prisons • National JIF agreement already in place • 14 public prisons across the East Midlands • Staff in scope operational and non operational • Regional brokerage taking this forward with HMPS NVQ regional manager • Training requirements being posted on RBSIS

  20. Police • Regional JIF agreements to be generated by brokerage team with five individual sub regional police forces and signed off by the LSC • Staff in scope operational and non operational • Only at initial meeting stage

  21. Probation • Covers the Midlands region - JIF agreement to have 2 annexes, East Midlands and West Midlands. • Working with brokerage team and Midlands consortium now to understand training needs • Staff in scope operational and non operational • Again, at early stage

  23. World Class Skills: Developing responsive provision East Midlands Provider Network 16th October 2009

Introducing World Class Skills • Designed to help providers enhance the way they work with employers with the long term vision of up skilling the UK's workforce. • A fully subsidised Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) programme, that will equip providers with the knowledge and tools to become an exemplar organisation. • The WCS programme includes workshops, seminars, consultancies and thematic projects. • The WCS is partnering with the Association of Colleges, 157 Group and the Association of Learning Providers. • Increased provider delivery during 2009/10 • Currently planned to finish in March 2010

  25. The programme to date • 38 one day courses covering core business skills – events for LSC funded training providers. Over 450 events have been delivered so far • Intensive consultancies with 481 providers, 46 in the East Midlands. • The sharing and dissemination of leading practice across 9 Thematic Projects, including the role of HR, effective information systems and bottom line benefits for employers. The major dissemination event is on 10th November 2009 • Support for the innovation pathfinders for the development of Business Innovation Services and Knowledge Transfer including capturing progress and learning through multimedia modules • Support for National Skills Academies provider networks.

Coaching & mentoring Sector coaching offers mentoring from a sector expert peer. Peer reference groups work together on an issue of their choice. Surgeries offer short appointments on a common issue with a sector expert. Consultancy support Intensive, bespoke one to one consultancies. Group consultancy for networks of providers. Post consultancy review for providers embedding earlier consultancy. Effective practice & innovation New round of Thematic Development Projects. Showcase and share leading practice in sector dissemination events. Support for business innovation. Online resources Resources available include e-learningmodules, CPD calculator, eLMI tools and lots of online resources, case studies and practical documents Specialist sector support Customised for National Skills Academies (NSAs), providers looking to improve their Apprenticeships provision or those working to achieve TQS Part B certification

Apprenticeships • There is a range of services in this area including: • Sector coaches • Online facilitated learning events – delivering in the public sector • Regional events and group consultancies • Apprenticeship Improvement and Development (AID) • Group Training Associations & Apprenticeship Training Associatiopns (GTAs/ATAs) • A route-map tool for Apprentices facing redundancy
