802.11af Status before May Interim Meeting • Comment resolution going on… • Group had telcos and adhoc meeting on May 4-6 to resolve comments. • Comments divided into three categories: General, MAC and PHY. • The plan is to review and develop resolutions to all remaining comments. • 802.11ac PHY will be used. Current 802.11af Status • Has agreed upon architecture and security modifications. • Presentations related to comment resolution mainly dealing with following MAC issues: • Simplification to enablement procedure for TVWS band. • Enhancing existing Channel Availability Query to support database query for multiple locations. • Network channel control. • Channel Availability Query. • Channel Schedule Management. • White Space Map. • 73 technical comments (out of 800) have TG approved resolution. Current 802.11af Status • A presentation was made on achieving compliance to TV WS spectrum emissions mask. • This presentation provides initial results for an RF PA Linearizer which is easily inserted between the • RF Modulator and Power Amplifier to achieve full compliance to the Emissions Mask with margin. • Works regardless of signal BW Prabodh Varshney, Nokia
Current 802.11af Status • Information about 802.11af project has been communicated to 802.18 for inclusion in the letter to be sent to ITU regarding TVWS work being done in IEEE 802. • Next WG letter ballot is expected in Sept 2011 and publication sometime in late 2013. • TG’s Principle modified to: In order to meet international requirements and facilitate the use of multiple contiguous or non-contiguous channels, use of TGac with changes for TGaf is our focus. • Initially the starting point was to use changes to Clauses 17 and 19 and Annexes D and E. • This will help in resolution of about 150 PHY related comments.
