What did you Learn? 1. What was a Shogun? Who was the first Shogun , and how did he gain his position of Power? A Shogun was a Military ruler for emperor of Japan. The first Shogun was Minamoto Yoritomo and he was appointed by the Emperor. The Emperor hoped it would keep him loyal to the Emperor.
What did you Learn? 2. What prevented the Mongol conquest of Japan? The Mongol Empire’s attack on Japan was Halted when a Typhoon, violent storm, Hit the archipelago. This typhoon smashed the Mongol ‘s ships and killed Thousands of men. They named these Typhoons “Kamikazes” which mean “Divine Wind”.
