Achievements • The lasting works of a society. • What things were built to last? • Which ideas, if any, still affect our lives today?
Politics • Who runs a society and how do they do it? • Who has power and how is it used? • How do those with power keep it or lose it?
Economics • How a society uses its scarce resources. • What are the most valuable resources in a society? • How are the resources distributed?
Social Structure • The different levels or classes in a society. • Who are the “most important” people in society? What do they do? • Who’s at the bottom of the social structure? Why?
Newspaper Article • Student selects newspaper article either online or from a newspaper.

These citations are important because it shows how Gaza and Egypt want the borders open for the people and economic prosperity. These citations also show how Hamas is transferring both weapons and fighters inside Egypt. The Gaza border is a safety concern because it is an easy target for terrorists.

Part III: Reaction to Article (Sample) 1. “Egyptian military targets attacked at Gaza border,” is about Egyptian targets being attached by Hamas and/or other rebel groups and how it affects the people when the border is closed. Because of two car bombings, Egypt has closed the border to the people of Gaza cannot get in. This affects the economy and also travel negatively for many people.
Part III: Reaction to Article (Sample) 2. The article is newsworthy because it explains the acts of terrorism that is occurring between the Egypt and Gaza border. It also makes us aware of how citizens are being affected by these car bombings.

Babylonia had both an inner and outer walls in the city to protect people from other groups that were attacking them. This shows that ancient city-states were attacked and took precautions, so that they would not be an easy target.
