  1. Cut head parts on ALL solid lines. Pattern lines will be on INSIDE of face and back of head.

  3. With ruler and pencil redraw all dotted lines to score the paper. It will look like this.

  5. Bend paper along scored lines toward INSIDE of head. It will look like this…

  6. The next step is attaching the horse’s mane. Using glue stick, place glue on back tab of large pattern piece, on outside of face.

  7. Take black paper rectangle and place on tab, covering front of face. Bend tab back again on same fold line. Re-glue same tab, this time on the black paper.

  8. Turn face away from you so nose is opposite your tummy. Inside of face will be showing. Line up tab from front and back of head, sliding ears under the face.

  9. Attach tabs together by holding in place. Staple twice to hold together securely.

  10. It will look like this from the inside.

  11. Put glue on back tabs (on outside) of back of head.

  12. Attach tabs under inside jaw on both sides of head. It will look like this.

  13. Put glue on triangular tabs near teeth. Put tab underneath and press to secure.

  14. Put glue on one side of tab at nose. Staple on both sides to secure.

  15. With hole punch, punch nose holes on each side of face near teeth.

  16. Hair: With scissors, snip hair as desired to create interesting mane. Lines can be thick, thin, zigzag, curved, etc.

  17. Eyes: Using pre-cut eyes and a pencil, design horse’s eyes. Use a U-shape for the eyeball. Refer to examples.

  18. Redraw pencil lines of eye and fill in pupil with Sharpie.

  19. They might look like this.

  20. Place glue on back of eye and attach eyes to face on both sides. Add eyelashes or eyebrows as desired.

  21. Ears: Using Sharpie, place a dot in center of space closest to mane.

  22. Put glue on section with dot.

  23. Overlap outside bottom tab of ear onto glued section to create a 3-D effect. Press until tabs hold.

  24. It will look like this.

  25. Hanging: Using hole punch, put two holes at back of head, holding punch as far as it will reach from bottom of head.

  26. Cut piece of string 12” long. Put thread ends through holes from inside to outside.

  27. Pull and tie with overhand knot.
