The School Team’s Role in Supporting Student Social Emotional Growth To support students, educators take a team approach, collaborate with district office to garner supports when needed, and partner with families. • Staff are Aware—Can’t Share Privacy laws are in place to protect the privacy of your child and your child’s classmates ’individual educational records and educational experience. Federal and state law prohibit us from sharing information regarding supports and interventions provided to students other than your own. • If you observe student behaviors that go against classroom, building, and district expectations, and you believe educators are not aware of them, please bring this to our attention so that appropriate corrections and interventions can take place. • The focus will always be on student behavior moving forward, not the discipline or corrective steps that may or may not have occurred—we will focus on restoring and maintaining relationships.
A Parent’s Role in Supporting Student Social Emotional Growth • If you observe student behaviors that go against classroom, building, and district expectations, and you believe educators are not aware of them, please bring this to our attention (teacher, school counselor, or principal) so that appropriate corrections and interventions can take place. • Please adhere to the ISD Volunteer Checklist/Agreementwhich contains the information below when supporting students in classrooms and school buildings: Intervening: • Student problems which arise, whether of an instructional, medical, behavioral or operational nature shall be referred to a regular staff member for final resolution. Confidentiality: • I understand that volunteers shall not discuss the performance, actions, or any other information about any student except with the student’s teacher, school counselor or principal. This is not only district policy but is also mandated by federal statute, The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, 34 CFR Part 99. I understand that confidentiality pertains to both written records and verbal statements.
