High Level Goals • Long term goals (3-5 years) • Establish and consolidate an educational system that reinforced science and technology research within educational institutions. • In order to achieve previous goal it is mandatory to promote an adequate program for teachers’ training (a.s. Students as Scientists). • Engage and align different sectors of the country (political, social and entrepreneurial) around one common goal: to create an educational culture based on science. • Establish a legal structure that support the creation of institutional fairs. • Achieve government’s leadership in the process. • Consolidate other two chosen regions (Bogota and Manizales) and be able to expand the fair’s program to other 3 cities in the country. • Establish a national fair as a convergence event for previously established regional fairs.
High Level Goals (cont.) • Short term goals (1-2 years) • Consolidate first regional fair (Medellin) with the participation of 50 institutions and 90 professors • Be able to maintain school directors commited to participate • Follow up research projects within schools • Form an institutional revision commitee of 3 people • Establish periodical channels of information and training • In order to empower school directors, it is important to socialize the program and to let them know the important role are playing within it. • Improve scientific review and judging
Objectives • Results we want to see: • Successful implementation of the regional fair (Medellin) having participation of 100 projects • The existence of the scientific revision commitees for each of the regions chosen • To be able to bring Colombian students to ISEF 2009 (Reno, Nevada) • To have First Regional Fair (Parque Explora-Medellin) as a reference for other regional fairs. For that reason, it is important to develop a process of documentation and sistematization. • To boost same initiative to other regions in the country. • To be able to participate in other international fairs.
Intel ISEF Educator Academy Reflection • Educator’s Academy was key to generate synergies between the country representatives in order to work together for the same purpose. • We were able to clarify much concepts and to incorporated them into our developmental process. • Ed’s Academy was also useful to really measure our scope.
