E-MAIL TRANSMISSIONS There has been a lapse in individual awareness regarding the security of NATO Classified information. A recent spate of E-mail transmission security violations has highlighted a major security concern. A large number of E-mails sent from SHAPE UNCLASSIFIED networks over the Internet have included NATO CLASSIFIED information. Any person who has a requirement to share information via E-mail is to carry out a full and thorough check of their document and any attachments included in the E-mail. Personnel are to ensure that the document does not carry any NATO CLASSIFIED information and / or markings if it is to be transmitted over the Internet. Be aware of “overwriting” template documents / presentations as they may have previously been a Classified document All users are reminded that they have personal security responsibilities regarding the safeguarding of NATO information. CHECK FOR NATO CLASSIFIED INFORMATION AND CHECK AGAIN BEFORE YOU SEND ANY E-MAIL OVER THE INTERNET SECURITY & EMERGENCY SERVICES AWARENESS MESSAGE The International Military Police and SHAPE Federal Police – working in partnership with you… FIND US ON THE WEB… www.shape2day.com/PMO_Home.aspx www.shape2day.com/policemattersinbelgium.aspx Listen to us on AFN Radio (FM 106.5) Fridays from 0800-0900
