  2. Despite continuing efforts ***of*** public education, misconceptions and inaccuracies about donation persist. • ***Recognizing*** the following facts ***will*** help you better understand organ, eye and tissue donation. -Organ Donation-

  3. I’m not exactly in perfect health, can I still donate? -FAQ, Fact/Myth #1- Fact: Anyone can be a potential donor regardless of age, race or medical history. ***Only after the death of the donor*** are determinations made regarding the fitness of the organs.

  4. I’m not sure what my religion’s stance is on organ donation. -FAQ, Fact/Myth #2- Fact:All major religions in the U.S. support organ, eye and tissue donation and see it as the final act of love and generosity towards others. ***The only concern is over cases when a patient is in a coma or consistent vegetative state, which makes death more difficult to define.*** (might not want to list complication – keep it simple)

  5. ***Will doctors do their best to save my life if they know that I’m an organ donor? *** (question was unclear) -FAQ, Fact/Myth #3- Fact: If you are sick or injured and admitted to a hospital, the number one priority is to save your life. Organ, eye, and tissue donation *will* only be considered after *every effort is made to sustain your life.*** (In fact, a medical team from outside the hospital administration is notified and carries out the ***donation*** procedure.) maybe cut this out – gets wordy, can be mentioned by speaker - sorry for shrinking your text 

How do I know the process is fair and that I’m helping those most in need? -FAQ, Fact/Myth #4- Fact: *** Factors that are considered in determining the order of the donor waiting list include the severity of the illness, time spent waiting, blood type and other important medical information. (not your financial or celebrity status.) -> mention by speaker? Gets wordy…***

  7. Does being a donor affect my funeral **arrangements?** -FAQ, Fact/Myth #5- Fact: An open casket funeral is possible for an organ, eye and tissue donor. Through the entire donation process the body is treated with care, respect and dignity.

  8. Does my family *incur* any fees or costs if I am a donor? -FAQ, Fact/Myth #6- Fact: There is no cost to the donor or their family for organ and tissue donation.

  9. -FAQ, Fact/Myth #7- Is the imprint on my driver’s license enough? Fact: ***While a license designation or donor card shows your intent to become a donor, your family will still have to consent to donation upon death.*** (mention legal aspect of body becoming property of next of kin?)
