Solving Quadratic Equations by Factoring Section 6-3
Zero Product Property • For any real numbers a and b, if ab=0, then either a=0, b=0, or a and b both equal zero.
Writing Quadratic Equations • Given roots p and q, the quadratic equation must be equivalent to (x-p)(x-q)=0
Example 4 • Write a quadratic equation with -2/3 and 6 as its roots. Write the equation in the form where a, b, and c are integers.
You-Try #4 • Write a quadratic equation with 3/4 and -2 as its roots. Write the equation in the form where a, b, and c are integers.
