Central Ohio Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Committee

The Central Ohio ITS Committee ensures compliance with the regional ITS architecture and coordinates ITS activities to develop strategies for the Metropolitan Transportation Plan. It also facilitates the integration and extension of elements identified in the architecture, in line with the Smart Streets Policy.

Regional ITS Architecture • Regional ITS Architecture is “a regional framework that ensures that there are institutional agreements as well as technical integration for the implementation of ITS projects in a region.” • A formal approval of the ITS Architecture is completed through the inclusion of it in the region’s Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) that is updated and adopted every four years by MORPC’s Transportation Policy Committee.

  3. Central Ohio ITS Stakeholders • Core Stakeholders • ODOT • City of Columbus • Franklin County Engineer’s Office • COTA • MORPC • Other Stakeholders • Other local entities that employ or use ITS technologies in the MORPC transportation planning area

Central Ohio ITS Committee • Purpose of the ITS Committee • Assist MORPC in maintaining and updating the regional ITS architecture • Ensure compliance with it through coordination of ITS activities • Assist in developing ITS strategies to be included in the MTP • The committee meets on a quarterly basis and is chaired by a member of the Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) 2019 Future Meeting Dates • July 24, 2019, 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. Location: MORPC • October 23, 2019, 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. Location: MORPC

Smart Street Policy • Smart Streets Policy requires project coordination with the Regional ITS Architecture • Inventory elements, functional requirements & information flows • Facilitate integration and extensions of elements identified in the architecture • ITS Architecture provides a framework for integration
