What is communication? • Communication is a process by which you convey your message to someone or a group of people.If the message is conveyed clearly it is an effective communication. If your message is not clearly understood you are facing a barrier.
Barriers of Communication • Physical barriers- This means that you cannot get around like other people. Ex. Poor or outdated equipment, background noise, poor lightning or an environment which is too hot or cold, lack of subject knowledge.
Barriers of Communication • Language barriers- it is when the person uses in appropriate words while conversing or writing. Ex. Different language, vocabulary, accent, dialect,
Barriers of Communication • Cultural barriers- it refers to the traditional and habitual ways. Ex. Age, education, gender, social status, economic position, cultural background, temperament, health, beauty, popularity, religion, political belief, ethics, values, individual barrier, etc.
Barriers of Communication • Emotional barrier- this could be a barrier if you are engrossed in your emotions for some reason. The roots of our emotion is mistrust and others lie in our childhood and infancy. Ex. hostility, anger, resentfulness and fear, stress, attitudinal.
