Editorial: The risks of turning our backs on GM crops (The Chemical Daily) ・The global cultivation area of GM crops in 2010 was 148 million hectares, an increase of 10% on the previous year. ・The number of countries planting GM crops increased to 29. ・In Japan, GM crops have not been cultivated, regardless of the fact that thousands of GM crops including maize are being imported. Japan should consider the "risks" of not allowing the cultivation of GM crops. ・GM crops are proven to be as safe or safer than conventional crops.
