The colossus of Rhodes. Location. Rhodes, Greece The colossus was built between 303 and 291 B.C. All that is left are some stone blocks used as the base. Purpose. Built by the sculptor Charas of Lindos Built to commemorate their victory in a siege against Macedonians

Purpose • Built by the sculptor Charas of Lindos • Built to commemorate their victory in a siege against Macedonians • Worked like a Lighthouse so ships could se the port of Rhodes from far away
Uniqueness • The structure was to honor the Sun God Helios • It took 12 years to complete the structure • It was built with terra cotta molds
Ancient Foresight • The statue of Liberty is very similar to what the Colossus of Rhodes what have looked like • This structure is apart of the seven wonders of the ancient world.
