Overview • Introduce 4-year planning document and use example HS course catalog to help complete academic course selections. • Review Career Cluster survey results and explore Plans of Study related to career interest. • Use Plans of Study to help identify extracurricular activities, service learning goals, and elective or career path courses related to career interests and record in your 4-year plan. • Use Plans of Study to explore career options by education level. Record your post-secondary and career path goal in your 4-year plan.

Use your HS Course Catalog Example to select your academic courses of choice • Select a class you think looks interesting to meet your senior English requirement • (e.g. Understanding Modern Media) • Select a course to meet your senior Mathematics requirement • (e.g. Probability/Statistics) • Select a class for your additional one semester Social Studies requirement • (e.g. AP Psychology) • Choose Chemistry or Physics. If you want to take an additional science course, select it as an elective. • (e.g. AP Chemistry) • Select a World Language course • (e.g. Spanish 1 & 2)

Note • While it’s true that many colleges require only 2 years of the same World Language…. • Some colleges (or majors within the same college) require 3 or 4years of the same World Language, depending on the college and major. • Sometimes, you are not required to take additional language courses in college if you took a full 4 years of the same World Language in high school. • You may add additional World Language courses as part of your electives required for graduation.

Use your HS Course Catalog Example to continue selecting your elective courses of choice • Review the example Art, Performing Arts, and Career & Tech Ed (CTE) course offerings to select one class per semester to fulfill your Fine Arts and/or CTE requirement • (e.g. Computerized Art 1 & 2) • Review the PE and ROTC list to select one course per semester to meet the PE requirements. You may also select Marching Band to meet this requirement. • (e.g. Fitness/Conditioning and Bodyworks) • (Note: you may waive this requirement if you participate in athletics. However, then you must select a different course toward your 240 total credits.)
