SUM IT UP (page 3) • What is the difference between a fossil and an artifact? • Fossils show signs of plant or animal life preserved (saved) in rock. Artifacts are weapons, pottery, tools, or other things made by humans.
INFERRING (page 3) • THE FARMING REVOLUTION • People could live in one place • People began to build villages • People developed communities with places of worship • Populations grew in large numbers • Beginning of trade • Developed different kinds of jobs • Crafts developed Trade improved
SUM IT UP (page 4) • How did the Paleolithic and Neolithic Ages differ? • During the Paleolithic period, people lived life as hunters and gatherers moving from place to place. (nomadic lifestyle) • People of the Neolithic Ages developed farming, communities, trade, and specialized jobs. They did not live a nomadic lifestyle.
SECTION WRAP-UP (page 5) • How did Paleolithic people adapt to their environment and use tools to help them survive? • Lived as nomads searching for food to eat, and lived in caves to keep warm. • No, no, no…..This is not my idea of a good life. I wouldn’t survive without my curling iron and blow dryer.
SECTION WRAP-UP (page 5) • How did life change for people during the Neolithic Age? • No longer nomads (stayed in one place) • Villages & communities developed • Sophisticated tools • Specialized jobs • More trade took place • Learned to farm • This lifestyle is more appealing to me; however, I still need my curling iron, blow dryer, and indoor plumbing.
