  1. PCB Take-Aways

  2. Take-Aways • Learn and apply systematic approach for assessing and improving process capability using such tools (Minitab and Excel) as: • Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts for variable and attribute data • Process capability analysis • Process mapping, cause-effect diagramming, Pareto analysis • Understand and determine impact of bias and variation on the cost of quality, productivity, and profitability. • Observe and understand the dangers of over-adjustment (‘Hero’ mentality) and stratification with respect to its impact on process variation. • Demonstrate the relationship between quality and productivity, cost of quality, and profitability; namely if quality increases, then productivity increases, cost of quality decreases, and profitability increases. • Learn to perform measurement analysis and capability

  3. Team Exercise • Manufacture of Printed Circuit Boards (Variable Data) • Teams will run a manufacturing process to produce PCBs. • Based on data collected, get system in statistical control, and then assess process capability. • Look for sources of variation to be eliminated. • Recommend, validate, and implement improvements.
