  2. Patient Description • 52 year-old white female • Hypothyroidism, bipolar, osteoarthritis • Medications: clonazePAM, cymbalta, fluticasone, acyclovir, llysine, levothryoxine, metroNIDAZOLE, premarin, protonix, seroquel and zomig. • Allergies: Amox.

  3. Lesion Description • Patient presents with an asymptomatic, well-defined, firm, nodular lesion on the left buccal mucosa. The lesion is approximately 4mm X 4mm. The lesion is in-line with the occlusal plane and is irritating to the patient during masitcation.

  4. Anticipated Questions • How long have you had this lesion? • Do you remember biting your cheek in that area? • Do you know if the lesion has grown? • Have you ever had any similar lesions?

  5. Differential Diagnosis • Traumatic fibroma • Fibrous histiocytoma • Giant cell fibroma

  6. Provisional Diagnosis • Traumatic fibroma • Lesion presents in-line with the occlusal plane. • Lesion is firm and the same color as the surrounding buccal mucosa.

  7. Treatment • Lesion is irritating to the patient during mastication, therefore excision and biopsy is recommended. Good Prognosis, lesion does not usually recur. • Biopsy will be preformed to confirm diagnosis of traumatic fibroma and rule out another type of soft tissue tumor.
