MTest Telescope • Constructed using “BTeV pixels” • Goals: • System test of detectors • Creation of useful test beam infrastructure • Pixel size = 50m x 400m (600m) • Oriented to provide “precision-x” or “precision-y” measurements. • Will provide ~6 micron resolution for “device under test” • Can easily handle MTest rates
Collaboration • Multi-year R&D effort for BTeV including a large group from FNAL, Syracuse, Iowa, Frascati, Milano, New Mexico State, Tennessee, Wayne State, & Wisconsin. • Test beam telescope by FNAL, Syracuse, & Columbia U w/sensors donated by LANL. • Key contributions by Bert Gonzalez, Tom Zimmerman, Mike Matulik, CM Lei, Paula Lippert, Tammy Hawke, & Michelle Jonas
Pixel Plane (1/2 Station) FPIX2.1 ROC Pixel Sensor LGA C/L
Pixel Station Readout Card (TBDB)
Layout y y Beam x x • Aperture ~ 3.5cm x 3.5cm • 4 stations
Beam spot (last quads off) 120 GeV proton beam: 1-track events; 3-4 spills at low intensity (5 Booster buckets) 93k tracks 3/20/09 mm mm
Beam phase space Horizontal Vertical mrad mm mm
Plans • Test of irradiated LHCb “VELO” silicon strip detectors starts on Wednesday. • Hope also to test prototype “edgeless” ILC sensor before the summer shutdown. • Plan to add one high precision tracking station next fall (probably MAPS w/~2m resolution).
