Location & Staff • Located in Room 11, Bowman Hall --Lower Level of Bowman Hall • Staff – 1 Director, 6 Advisors, 1 Transfer Student Program Manager • Support Staff – 1 Office Manager, 1 Program Assistant
What we do • Advise First Year and Undecided Students • Assist Transfer Students in their transition • Use Developmental Advising • Use 4 year plan / 8 semester sequence • Work with Undecided students -- ~ 250 students • Teach Seminar In Career Exploration • Administer Self-Assessment Tools (MBTI, Strong) • Coordinate Summer Registration & Orientation
What we do …continued • SAGE Early Alert Program– 31 different courses involving about 85 faculty • Stout Advising Network – meets monthly • Learning Communities – 12 of them involving 300 students
How we work together • Advisors meet with PDs at least 1x/year to get updated on programs • Communication both ways to provide accurate, consistent and timely information • Course Availability esp during summer – generally work with Deans and Asst Deans • Change of Major Forms – will be in Adobe PDF form • 3 & 4 Year Graduation Guarantee – will be using Image Now to expedite process • Transfer students transition process will be smoother and more information will be shared
