  1. Warm up 04-23-14 • Question: What are the units for energy? • Answer: • Joules (J) • Goal: I will learn about energy transformations.

  2. Element of the day • 94 – Plutonium – Pu • Making an atomic bomb is incredibly difficult (which is a good thing). Uranium bombs are difficult because you have to separate the tiny amounts of U-235 from U-238, which is an incredibly expensive process. • Plutonium bombs are difficult to make because it requires a lot of precision to make the plutonium fission rather than fizzle. • Plutonium is often called the most poisonous element, but it would be hard to use as private ownership is absolutely forbidden. It is the most tracked and highly regulated of all the elements. • The only private ownership of plutonium comes from older pacemaker that have some in their batteries.
