  3. Expectations • Attendance- prompt, daily attendance is crucial to success • Lab counts as a separate class • Materials- binder, pens, pencils • Absences- see me the day returning to school • to show HW that was due • pick up work that was missed • find out due dates for missed work • etc.

  5. Homework • Due at beginning of class • Late HW generally not accepted • Exceptions… • excused absence • due upon return • extended time modifications • must show progress on due date & then have until next day

  6. Unit Cover Page & Book Work HW

  7. Labs • Submit on-time for full credit • -20% per day late (-10% per day for extended time w/ progress shown) • All safety rules must be followed. • Closed-toe shoes required. • Keep a pair in locker or in class just in case…

  8. Quizzes & Tests • Quizzes • at various points within chapter/unit • Tests • after multiple chapters/units • Announced • Review given

  9. Grades • Grades are earned not given • total points method (pts earned/possible pts)

  10. Placement for Sophomore Year • Based on 300 Algebra 1 grade • To qualify for chemistry • B- or better in 300 Algebra 1 • To qualify for earth science • No prerequisite • However, bio grade is a prerequisite for many future electives!

  11. Academic Integrity • Honesty is expected in my classroom • Cheating, copying, plagiarizing will not be tolerated & are serious offenses. • Occasional group lab reports or projects will be assigned, otherwise all work should be done independently. • When in doubt, ask!
