Sporting Equals Strategy Raise awareness and understanding of the needs of black & minority ethnic {BME} and emerging communities within sport and physical activity: • Grow – increase number of people participating • Brokerage & Engagement – identify, support and develop • Resources – insight, understanding and training
Key Issues • The BME population is growing and changing significantly in the UK as a whole • No “one size fits all” solution • Low levels of BME female involvement in sport at all levels (schools, recreational, clubs) • Lack of awareness, myths and prejudice hinder engagement
