  3. Overview of BRHC The UR Ice Hockey Spiders compete in the Blue Ridge Hockey Conference (BRHC). The BRHC was created in 2001, the same year the UR Ice Hockey Spiders began. For the 2004-2005 season, the BRHC teams are: Appalachian State (ASU), Radford, Clemson, Old Dominion (ODU), Richmond, William and Mary, Mary Washington, Virginia Commonwealth (VCU), Virginia Military (VMI), UNC-Charlotte

  5. ACHA Information The UR Ice Hockey Spiders also compete in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA). They are a Division 3 member of the Atlantic Region. For the 2003-2004 season, some other D3 Atlantic teams were: Membership in the ACHA brings National exposure to the Team as well as the University. Last season, the Spiders went to the ACHA National tournament! (Only 16 teams go out of 100)

Commitments / Expectations What type of players are we looking for? • Players who put school 1st, Ice Hockey 2nd • Players who SWYD, DWYS • Players who PRACTICE and play hard • Players who are on time for team meetings, practices, and games !! • Players who will pay their dues on time !! Anyone interested in assisting the president, or either of the vice presidents please let us know!

  7. 2004-2005 UR Hockey Schedule • GOALS • Competitive, Playoffs, Nationals! • 23 GAMES • Tough Opponents – PSU-Berks, Kutztown, Robert Morris, Loyola, Cincinnati • 16 BRHC Games, 7 Non-League (ACHA) Games • ACHA Division III National Tournament!!! • Hosted By California U. of Pennsylvania in PA. • The FIRST WEEKEND OF SPRING BREAK! (March 2-5) • All games and practices are on the website!

  8. 2004-2005 Richmond Hockey“College Hockey Showcase” • We’re hosting at SkateQuest Prince William in Woodbridge, VA. • January 28-30, 2005 • Participants: Richmond, Loyola College, Robert Morris, Cincinnati • One game per day – Tournament winner is team with best record. • This will take a lot of hard work from everyone. • Programs, Announcers, Scorekeepers, Posters, Admissions, etc. • Also, we’ll have a trophy for champion, awards for top players.

  9. Team Weekend September 11th – September 12th • First year we are doing this – it is mandatory for team members. • We will be going to Northern Virginia to stay at Greg Kfoury’s family’s house. • Can play hockey, video games, etc. • More details to follow …

Club Budget Information • The team’s expenses include: • Ice time for Practices • Ice time for Home Games • Road Trips (Overnight Away Games) • Miscellaneous Items • Last season we spent over $25k !! • The team’s income is from: • UR Sports Club • Player Dues (Parents) • Other donations (Parents, family, friends, etc) • Fundraisers (always looking for ideas)

What is next? • Tryouts / practice: • Wed 9/1/04 @ 11:00pm @ Richmond Ice Zone • Coach will announce Final Roster by Fri 9/3/04 (email) • Mon 9/6/04 @ 10:45pm @ Richmond Ice Zone • Tryouts / practice will including skating, passing, shooting, checking, and game situations. • Remember to contact us w/ any questions or if you need a ride.
