    3. Why is this critical? VISN 8 is one of the leading VISNs in number of veterans registered for MHV (36,688 registered as of March 31, 2007) We must improve clinician use of MHV better serve our veteran population

    4. Methodology Consulted with national MHV experts and VISN 8 MHV points of contact Conducted a survey of VISN 8 clinicians to determine their familiarity with MHV and the needs for further training

    12. Do Clinicians want more MHV training? Approximately 68% of clinicians reported a need for more training With a preferred method as shown

Training Pilot at Orlando VAMC Method of training used Clinician-facilitator guided Time frame: One hour Tools: Videos: “Moving Care to Where the Veteran Is”  (6 minutes) “The Perfect Doctor Visit” (4 .5 minutes) Workshop: Began with Power Point Presentation. Followed by visit to www.myhealth.va.gov (using demo account) for a tour of the website.

    14. Results of training pilot After training, the clinician felt most likely to: Promote the use of My HealtheVet (90%) Encourage other clinicians to use My HealtheVet (90%) Rated the information in allowing them to teach others about My HealtheVet? Very good (50%) Good (40%)

    15. Recommendations To identify MHV Clinical Champions at each facility with VISN wide support. To follow a standard training format with the MHV Clinical Champion as the facilitator.

    16. Recommended Tools My HealtheVet Clinical Champion’s Guidebook: General guide Contains links, resources and framework train My HealtheVet Clinical Champions Establishes a schedule for periodic training and means to disseminate information Allows flexibility for each institution’s needs

MyHealtheVet: A resource… To provide reliable & useful patient health education materials To reduce unnecessary clinic visits (through education and communication) To promote sharing information and support co-managed care To encourage patient engagement in their health To nurture informed patients To promote use of time saving technology for the optimal health care
