Report of the Presidents Commission on Diversity and EquityBackgroundIn support of the goals of the University of Virginia as well as in response to some disheartening incidents of racial injustice and insensitivity on the Universitys Grounds, President John T. Casteen III appointed a University-wide Commission on Diversity and Equity in summer 2003.The President formally charged the Commission with assessing the quality of the student experience within the University in all of its aspects, with special attention to experiences unique or generally germane to women and minority students.Both OAAA and PAA were represented on the Commission.
