Psalm 119:49-56 Zayin – a weapon. Our weapon is the Word of God (prayer is our heavy artillary). God’s character is the weapon of our protection. Our protection depends on who & what God is, & never on who & what we are. All Bible doctrine is an extension of the perfect character of God “Remember” (vs. 49) – kal imperative of zakar(zaw-kar’) (H2142 - TWOT 551) – to call to mind; think; meditate; pay attention to.
Psalm 119:57-64 Cheth (or heth) – a fence or enclosure. The Grace of God protecting the believer. “Portion” (vs. 57) – cheleq(khay’lek) (H2506 – TWOT 669a) – a portion; share; part; territory; parcel of land; possession.
Psalm 119:65-72 Teth – to roll together. Concept of relationship. “Well” (vs. 65) – towb – (H2896 – TWOT 793a) – good; pleasant; agreeable; excellent; beautiful; delightful; joyful; precious. Frequently means ”happy.” Also in vs. 68 (“good” 2 times); vs. 71 (“good”); vs. 72 (“better”). “Dealt” – kal perfect of ‘asah (aw-saw) – (H6213 – TWOT 1708, 1709) – to do, fashion, accomplish, make; kal means to do, work, make, produce. Used in Genesis 1 & 2 for the work God did (“made”). Compare words for “made” in Genesis 1:1 & 2:22. Cf. Ephesians 2:10.
Psalm 119:73-80 Yod – a hand (viewed from the side – a hand cupped). The hand of blessing – our true security. “Hands” (vs. 73) – yad (yawd) (H3027 – TWOT 844) – the side of a hand; an open hand (as opposed to a closed hand); strength; power.
Aleph (ah-lef) (vs. 1-8) – an ox – generally refers to prosperity; strength under an agricultural economy. Beth (bayth) (vs. 9-16) – a house; a tent – generally refers to the plan of God; living, or, being at home in the plan of God for your life. Gimel (ghee-mel) (vs. 17-24) – gimel is a camel; camel’s neck; soul. The camel is a beast of burden; well-traveled. Represents an extensive knowledge of Bible doctrine. Daleth (daw-leth) (vs. 25-32) – door; curtain to tent – entrance to relationship with God; entrance into the plan of God. He (hay) (vs. 33-40) – window; lattice – new perspective. Waw (wow) or Vav (vs. 41-48) – hook; nail; peg – the Word of God is the hook on which a believer hangs his life Zayin (vs. 49-56) – a weapon.
