WORLD CUP 2010 Operational Plan
Harare Bulawayo Maputo
ASSUMPTIONS • This document is a live document and is subject to change as we get • closer to the World Cup. • No new train sets will be available for the 2010 World Cup. • Scheduled trains will depart as per their advertised arrival and departure • times to be in line with the matches played. • All scheduled trains will depart the day before the match and will arrive • 5 – 6 hours prior to the match kick off times. • Trains will depart 3-4 hours after the match is finish. • This proposal is compiled based on the assumption that the line • capacity will be able to accommodate the increase in demand and that • locomotives will be available • Train transport would also ease the congestions on roads e.g. One • train transports 864 passengers per journey and to transport the same • amount of passengers by bus you would need between 10 and 15 • busses. • 9 train sets will be refurbished by 2010 (3 of which will be Premier Class)
