  2. Fitness, Sports and Recreation Centre P.O. Box 190 Building 399 Centralia Rd Phone: 896-6900 ext. 7708 Fax: 896-6900 ext. 6915 Cardio room contains treadmills, bicycles, Spinners, rowers, elliptical and stairmaster machines. Volleyball, Badminton, Basketball, Soccer and more can be easily played on our gym floor. Equipment is available at the main office. Newly renovated squash courts and equipment are also available for booking. The spacious weight room offers a variety of free and machine driven weights.

  3. Fitness, Sports and Recreation Centre • RULES & REGULATIONS • All patrons utilizing FS&R facilities must produce a Military I.D. Card or valid Rec Card, which must be presented at front desk upon entering facility if requested to do so. • All patrons must sign in and out of the facility, a register book is provided just at the monitors office. • Patrons utilizing sports equipment may be held financially responsible for lost or negligibly damaged equipment. • Children 12yrs and younger are not allowed access to facility without the direct supervision of a mature person 16yrs of age or older. • For safety reasons, patrons utilizing the weight room, aerobics room and sauna room must be 16yrs or older. • Smoking, alcoholic beverages, food, offensive language and animals are not permitted in facility. • Personal belongings not being used must be stored and it is recommended to secure them in lockers provided. See FS&R for Locker details. • Any clothing considered to be revealing or offensive will not be permitted. Members must wear appropriate gym attire. • Patrons must put equipment back to its proper place i.e. weights, daily use and sports equipment etc. • All facility users must clean cardio and weight room equipment after use with the solution in spray bottles and paper towels that are provided. • Only NON-MARKING, clean and proper footwear will be permitted in the facility. • Floor and ball hockey players must wear CSA approved helmets or goggles. Squash players must wear CSAapproved eyewear. • Treadmills and Squash Courts mustbe booked prior to use. • Membership is a privilege and can be revoked at anytime! • THANKS FOR YOUR COOPERATION! • Fitness, Sports and Recreation Staff

PROGRAMS & EVENTS CIRCUIT TRAINING Muscular endurance, cardiovascular endurance, strength, speed, agility and flexibility will be the aspects of fitness that will be trained and improved during these fitness classes. This class involves high intensity so be prepared to sweat. WEIGHT TRAINING Become familiar with the weight room while working at your own pace to develop and improve strength, power and muscular endurance. This class is designed to set the bar high and with each class gain individual improvements, allowing you to reach your goals daily. You work at your own pace and at a level that is comfortable to you. Watch yourself enhance your personal fitness and strength levels each week. FITNESS DEVELOPMENT Not ready for the EXPRES EVALUATION? This is a great time to start training. This class will focus on increasing aerobic capacity, building strength, developing and improving muscular endurance. All aspects of the Express evaluation are included in this program. ALL GYM MEMBERSHIP HOLDERS - Please note that Military, Defense Team and Dependants 16+ years have priority. Walk to Run Program – Have you always wanted to be a runner? Come out and join our beginner running classes. This class will start off slow and progress weekly with each session. The class goal is to run 5KM in a 13week period. CIRCUIT TRAINING – Designed to give you the best 45min workout. This class includes weight training, plyometrics, speed and agility. You will have a great workout and a lot of fun. WOMEN ON WEIGHTS – This women only class provides an opportunity for Women to develop strength, endurance, muscle definition and confidence in the weight room. While working at your own pace and supervised by a qualified Personal Trainer, you will be provided with a great learning environment and the ability to develop life long valuable skills to keep yourself in shape. INDOOR CYCLING – A great way to improve aerobic capacity and develop muscular endurance. Just simply hop on a bike and follow the instructor. There is nothing easier. This class provides an excellent environment to get out and get active with friends. Participants should remember to bring a water bottle and sweat towel to all fitness classes. *For Class dates and times, please refer to attached Fitness Calendar.

For equipment rental call 896-6900 ext. 7708. This applies to Regular Force members and Class B reserves on 12 days/month or more. VOLUNTEERS If you would like to get involved in the activities that PSP has to offer, please contact the Fitness and Sports Centre at local 7708 for more information.

  6. RECREATION ACTIVITIES GOLF To all CF Members, Reservists and Defence Team (DND Civilians, CFPSA, NPF/PSP, CFHA,MFRC & DCC Employees. Amaruk Golf Club Green Fee Passes cash reimbursement is available for the Fiscal Year 2008 Golf Season. Reimbursement for cash for passes can be claimed from the PSP office, room #127, HQ Bldg 271. Monday to Friday for each day pass: $10.00 Saturday to Sunday for each weekend pass: $12.00 Limit: TWO passes in any 24-hour period Office Hours: Monday to Friday: 0800-1530 hrs Available from 09 June 2008 to End of Golf Season MILITARY & DEFENCE TEAM SWIM CLASS This class takes place on Friday from 1500-1600hrs. In the shallow end participants are able to learn basic swim skills. In the deep end participants learn to develop and enhance strokes while at the same time swim for fitness. In the beginning of this class, all participants will participate in a mini water workout. This workout will develop muscular strength and endurance as well as prepare the muscles and body for the development and enhancement of strokes. PSP RECREATIONAL SWIM TIME The PSP recreational family swim for Military, Defence Team and Dependants is held at the Labrador Training Centre every Sunday from 1300-1400hrs. You will need to show Military ID/DND ID or a Community Recreation Pass to gain entrance into swim. SWIM PASSES Swim passes are available for Military and their Families for the Labrador Training Centre. These passes can be picked up at the Fitness & Sports Centre from the main office. TERRY FOX RUN – 5 Wing Goose Bay participates annually in the Terry Fox Run held in September. The goal is to raise money for cancer research and to replicate the original Terry Fox Run. Watch for flyers in September for more information. WINTER CARNIVAL – 5 Wing Goose Bay holds the record for the longest standing Carnival in Canada. The Carnival happens each year with fun activities for the Military Community.

RECREATION CLUBS AUTO HOBBY CLUB President – MCpl Roland Barth (local 7388) Vice President -- Comm Steve Gill (local 7120) The Auto Club houses a large variety of hand and specialty tools for auto maintenance. This shop includes equipment such as a vehicle lift, transmission lift, an assortment of axel jacks, stands and all types of welders (i.e. mug welder club). All items necessary for a complete restoration project. This shop also has a modern tire changer and balancer to facilitate seasonal tire changes as well as a small engine section that provides an area for all recreational vehicle maintenance. NEW ITEMS - The Auto Hobby Shop is in the process of building a dedicated wash bay. HOURS OF OPERATION Tuesday and Thursday 1830 – 2200hrs Saturday and Sunday 1200 – 1600hrs CERAMICS CLUB President – Nadia Simard / Annie Garant Do you like to create things? Do you like to paint? Do you like to get your hands DIRTY? Come have some fun with us. The Ceramics Club at 5 Wing Goose Bay located in the Community Centre. There are a variety of molds for all different holidays and preferences to suit your individual needs. CLUB DIRECT LINE: 896 – 6900 ext. 6072 Have you ever watched Norm Abram on TV and wished that you could create a family heirloom that will be talked about for generations to come. Well you can at 5 Wing Wood Hobby Club. Located in Bldg 358, on Kittyhawk Road you can’t miss us with the big yellow garage door. If you have no experience or a lot you will be welcomed at the club. We have the experienced supervisors that can help you with your project from the planning right through to the finishing. The club has a great selection of machinery and hand tools, to create that something special. As well, there is rough lumber available for you to purchase for your projects. There is also a limited amount of storage lockers available to store your wood or personal tools. Membership is open to Military Families and Civilians on a controlled number basis.   9. CHILD & YOUTH ACTIVITIES SUMMER SWIM PROGRAM This will be open to Military and Defence Team Dependants based on interest. This program is projected to take place one week in July and one week in August. All interested names for this program need to be submitted by end of June. Please note that there may be a fee associated with this program. INTRODUCTION TO GOLF CLINIC This clinic will be offered in August 2008 and will be designed based on enrolment and skill of the participants. Open to Military and Defence Team Dependants. Participants will have the opportunity to learn the rules of golf, score keeping, swing technique and trouble shooting. This will be a fun and exciting opportunity to enhance current skills or try a new activity. INTRODUCTION TO CURLING CLINIC This clinic is offered a couple of times throughout the Winter Months and is designed at the level of the participants. Participants will have the opportunity to learn the rules and skills required to curl recreationally.

It may be more appropriate for those 13+. The movie may include frightening or emotionally upsetting situations. AA – Adult Accompaniment – Considered to be suitable for 14+. Subject matter or language could be controversial or offensive. The film may contain scenes of limited violence and restrained portrayals of accidents or disasters. There may be scenes of casual brief nudity, romantic involvement that is not sexually explicit where participants are at least partially clothed; some coarse vulgar language. Under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adults 18 years and older. R-16/R18 – Restricted – Suitable for those 16/18 years and older. The film may contain excessive use of foul or offensive language; may depict extreme violence, visually explicit, extreme blood letting and tissue damage, horror-horrific themes, incidents and images will have a more prolonged or graphic focus and greater frequency, graphic sexual activity.   13. BOWLING ALLEY Bowling lanes are located in the Youth Centre across from the Arcturus Theatre. Features: 6 Lanes, Shoes, White Lights or Glow Bowling The lanes are operated by bookings only. 2 Hour rental includes use of bowling lanes and the multi-purpose room. Glow Bowling is available upon request.
