  2. Auxiliary Coordinators Breakout Session 1 Emerging Professionals is a Registered Provider with the American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System (CES). Credit earned on completion of this program will be reported to CES Records for AIA members. Certificates of completion for non-AIA members are available on request.This program is registered with the AIA/CES for continuing professional education. As such, it does not include content that may be deemed or construed to be an approval or endorsement by the AIA of any material of construction or any method or manner of handling, using, distributing, or dealing in any material or product. Questions related to specific materials, methods, and services will be addressed at the conclusion of this presentation.

  7. What is an Auxiliary Coordinator? Position Description • The IDP Auxiliary Coordinator directs the local awareness and implementation of IDP. This individual disseminates the latest IDP news, tools and resources as put forth by the IDP State Coordinator, Educator Coordinator and/or AIA National Component. Though this is a volunteer position, it is one of tremendous responsibility. The IDP Auxiliary Coordinator must maintain a thorough understanding of IDP requirements, objectives and resources, and must be familiar with state registration requirements and examination application procedures.

  8. What is an Auxiliary Coordinator? 1. Eligibility Firm Coordinators, Local Coordinators, Former NCARB Member Board Liaisons, Local Component representatives, AIAS Chapter Advisers, and faculty representatives are all encouraged to be IDP Auxiliary Coordinators

  9. What is an Auxiliary Coordinator? 2. Selection Process IDP Auxiliary Coordinators are selected by the firms, local AIA components, state boards, AIAS Chapters, schools or other stakeholder organizations who wish to participate. Organizations should contact the AIA national component at idp@aia.org to sign up for this position. 3. Term There is no term limit to this position.

AIA National Support and Resources AIA National will provide IDP Auxiliary Coordinators with all of the following resources: • Invitation to attend the Annual IDP Coordinators Conference each year • No funding is available at this time for IDP Auxiliary Coordinators • Unlimited access to the IDP Coordinators Portal, the new one-stop-shopping online resource for IDP Coordinators • A personalized IDP Coordinators Welcome Kit. • Free training! In 2007, AIA National debuted two new training workshops, “IDP Bootcamp” & “Mentoring Essentials for IDP Supervisors and Mentors”, which are now available for any Auxiliary Coordinator to use • Staff support from AIA National for personalized assistance in matters that may arise throughout the year

Responsibilities • Maintain awareness and understanding of IDP resources and issues • Answer a wide range of program questions from students, interns, and practitioners • Ensure that students, interns and practitioners in your sphere of influence have current program information and resources • Collaborate with other Auxiliary Coordinators in your area and region to improve the support of Architectural Interns
