Bachelor of Optometry
Optometry is a healthcare profession that is autonomous, educated and regulated (licensed/registered), and optometrists are the primary healthcare practitioners of the eye and visual system who provide comprehensive eye and vision care, which includes refraction and dispensing, detection/diagnosis and management of disease in the eye, and the rehabilitation of conditions of the visual system. Optometry is an independent profession in eye care concerned with the health of the eyes and related structures, as well as vision, visual systems, and vision information processing in humans. Optometrists are primary health care practitioners of the eye, who provide comprehensive eye and vision care, which includes:-Measuring refractive errors, Prescribing glasses, contact lenses and low vision aids. Early detection/diagnosis, management and rehabilitation of conditions of the visual system providing non-surgical intervention for specific binocular vision problems like squint. Optometrists offer counselling with help of Ophthalmology services on preventive eye and vision care and collaborate with other health disciplines including neurology, internal medicine and other health sciences
