  3. 1.2 – Getting Started • Where are you going to go? • When are you going to go? • How are you going to get there? • Where are you going to stay? • How long are you going to stay there? • How many people do you want to take? BWV Walk Leader Training Extended Unit 1 – Conducting a Base camp

  4. 1.3 – Walks Program Research your chosen area for walks • How many walks per day? • Up to 20 walkers – 1 walk per day • 20 to 30 walkers – 2 walks per day • More than 30 walkers – 3+ walks • If more than 1 walk per day choose a variety of walk grades • How many walk leaders will you have? • Do you want rest days?   5. 1.4 – Accommodation Caravan Parks are the simplest option • Walkers can make their own bookings for cabins, tent or caravan sites Other options include: • Camping only: • Are bookings required and who will make them? • What are the costs? • Availability of water and toilet facilities • Do all the walkers have tents?   12. 1.7 – During the Base Camp On your Departure Morning: • For arranged accommodation: • Check cleaning tasks are done • Check everyone has left complete with their gear • Complete any locking up • Be the last to leave BWV Walk Leader Training Extended Unit 1 – Conducting a Base camp
