  2. Starter - There are lots of different types of Relationships • Examples….Relationships with friends Relationships with parents In pairs, write down as many different types of relationships that you can have with other people that you can think of.

  3. How many of these did you think of? • Friends • Families • Neighbours • Boyfriends/girlfriends • Parents • Teachers • Sisters/brothers • Aunts/uncles • Doctors/dentists • Librarians • Shopkeeper • Postman • Lollipop man • Local policeman • Social worker • Youth group leader • scouts/guides leader • Sports coach • Pets Did you have any others ?

  4. Task 1 - Different types of relationships • Is there a difference between a relationship and a friendship? • What are the differences?

  5. Easy Relationships • Can you think of someone who you get on really well with and you enjoy having a relationship with them • What kind of things makes it an ‘easy’ relationship

  6. Difficult Relationships • Can you think of someone who you don’t get on well with and you don’t enjoy their company. • What kind of things make it difficult?

  7. Romantic Relationships • Can you think of someone who you are ‘attracted’ to • What kind of things attracts you to that person?

  8. Romantic Relationships • Why do you think we need these kinds of relationship? • What do we get out of these types of relationship? • (note your ideas down in your books)

  15. Task 2 -What do you look for in a partner? Try to think of think of things other than looks....the novelty of looks can soon ware off if you have nothing in common etc

  16. What do you look for in a partner? • Perhaps some of these traits..... • Note down about 10 traits that you would like a partner to have. brave thoughtful confident funny affectionate

  17. Rank your chosen traits in the following order of importance.

  18. Task 3 - Class discussion • Why are close relationships important? • What can make close relationships difficult at times? • Why is good communication important within a relationship? • How important do you think commitment and fidelity is in a serious relationship.

  19. Plenary - relationship jigsaw In the centre of the jigsaw write the following title: ‘a successful relationship’ Then write key words or statements that you think describe what a good relationship would have. e.g. Good communication, fun, etc. Think of it as a relationship recipe!
