  3. N.I. Field Trial • February 2004. • 2 Whispergens installed. • 2 Private dwellings. • Funded by Housing Executive, NIE and Phoenix Natural Gas. • TV Coverage.

  4. Extended Field Trial 2004/05 • 50 Whispergen Units. • NIHE £ 70k • NIE £100k • EST £ 90k • Phoenix Gas £100k • DETI £100k £460k

  5. Micro-CHP Trial (NI) • 10 Housing Executive. • 10 Housing Association. • 10 Private Sector New Build. • 20 Private Sector retrofit. • Monitored by Carbon Trust.

  6. Micro – CHP Trial • Partners subsidise installation costs. • NIHE dwellings – partners supply CHP unit but NIHE pay installation costs. • Housing Association and Private Sector installations also subsidised by partners. • Monitoring Costs. • Training Costs. • Contingency Fund.

  7. Micro – CHP Trial (NI) • Identification of NIHE houses. • Heat Loss Calculations. • Marketing campaign for properties within other tenures, including media coverage. • Training of NIHE Contractors. • Tender for contractors within other tenures followed by training.

  8. Progress to date 7 Housing Executive installations complete. 3 Housing Executive completions due shortly. Many owner-occupiers interested – not all dwellings suitable. Housing Associations interest building. Private developers – none to date.

  9. Issues • Compatibility with prepayment meters. • Working in partnership. • Installation manual. • Suitability of dwellings and tenants. • Logistics.
